What do I need to show police when I get pulled over with a temporary work license?
Q. I recently got a temporary license (to drive to work and back) after getting a DUI and need to know what the police need to see if they pull me over. I'm in college and work on campus... so I foresee a policeman looking at me very suspiciously when I tell him I'm driving to work. Do I need any kind of proof from my job? I live in CA and am over 21.

A. Whatever they ask for. It would be good to have a picture ID.

Do I need a temporary license to drive my G test?
Q. I need to take my G test in a few days, my license expired a month ago. This is my "last chance" test. I couldn't go get my temporary because the closest place is 2 hours away and in a different town and I don't have a car and the greyhound bus doesn't come out to where I live. I've tried to get ahold of the drive test people but always get lost in the automated systems and give up and there's no one in town who can answer my questions. do i need a temporary license to do my g test? That's all I need to know, thanks.

A. yes you do, your license is expired, they won't test you with no license, you don't say where you are, some places let you renew online.

driving with temporary driving license and still got a ticket...?
Q. so, i got pulled over for driving 80 m/hr in in my state CA, and then when i gave them my temporary driving license (which was valid and not expired) since i didnt get my driving license yet, and they did a search in their database and couldnt find it and beside the speeding ticket they also added driving without license...i went and spoke with two dmv managers and they told me that the police man should have known that the temporary driving licenses do no show up when they do a search...now, in a couple of days ill have to go to court for this ticket. Im 24 years old , so im not under 18...now, what papers should i take with me, or where should i print some papers from proving that i can drive with my temporary driving license ? i know it' [cont.]

A. All you have to do is produce that temp license down at court and the judge will immediately dismiss that complaint..no problem. Now you did have it on you, right? Cause you can be cited for driving without your license physically on you. You must be a to physically produce it in a traffic stop. But if you actually showed it the judge will dismiss it TRUST ME...relax. One more thing..IF the judge doesn't dismiss it you plead not guilty and you get a court date then you produce statements from DMV etc, etc,...DON"T WORRY you will get out of that one

A. It would depend entirely on the rules of the state you are going in to. If you are going into Indiana, yes. Indiana A holder of an out of state learner's permit may legally operate a vehicle in Indiana as long as they follow the guidelines of the state in which that permit was issued. The seat beside the holder must be occupied by a guardian or relative of the holder who holds a valid operator's, chauffeur's or public passenger chauffeur's license South to Kentucky? Do I need a temporary license plate buying a car in Georgia and drive it to Michigan?
Q. I live in Michigan, I have bought a car from Atlanta on eBay, and I am going to drive it back to Michigan by myself. I have asked a Michigan DMV (secretary of state as they are called here), they said I just need to bring a title, proof of insurance, and of course pay the sales tax, then I'll be able to transfer the title and register in Michigan. But how about the license plate? When I pick up the car from Atlanta, can I keep the previous owner's license plate on the car? In Michigan, if you sell your car, you take your license plate back, and the new owner will put his new license plate on after registration. My concern is, if Georgia is like Michigan, the previous owner takes off the license plate, then my car will not have a license… [cont.]

A. Hmm. that is a good question. I live in Washington, and I used to go through problems like that... I would say yes, you can, I am not 100% sure its legal, but first off, what are the chances of getting pulled over... second, even if you did get pulled over, the worst that would happen is a warning, most cops don't even check for the 6 month rule, and if they do, you can just say that you thought you could with a passenger above 21 or whatever the age is, and they will just tell you not to do it again. I would say go ahead and do it, there really isn't any risk. What kind of cop would actually give a ticket for that???!?

Temporary tag/license for driving vehicle from US to Canada?
Q. Is it possible to get a temporary tag/license for a vehicle that is imported to the US (Miami), for the sole purpose of driving it to Canada i.e. transit? The reason: to save on transportation costs, as freight to Canada is prohibitively expensive while freight to the US is very cheap. However, registration seems to be an issue because the original registering country will void the registration once the car leaves, and Canada won't register until it is there... Are there any options, or are we out of luck on this one. By the way, the car was originally manufactured in the US and meets all US (as well as Canadian) vehicle and safety standards, so we know it is permissible for import into two both countries. A. You're going to go through so many regulatory hurdles getting it through US customs with signed documents ensuring the car will not be left in the US, and then importing it into Canada from a US point but in actuality importing it from wherever the heck it is that it just plain isn't worth the bother. And where the vehicle was made doesn't not necessarily ensure it meets Canadian standards. Even vehicles made for the US market have to go through inspection (you pay for it, and there are no exceptions), and various things such as daytime running lights have to be installed if not already in the vehicle. If the vehicle was made in the US for any market other than the US, it may or may not even be legally importable. My advice, as a… [cont.]

Simple Question about driving in Ohio with a temporary license?
Q. Can someone over the age of 16 drive a normal vehicle - not a suv, minivan, or truck - to and from work with a temporary instruction permit as it is called?
Asked by dpattle - Thu Jul 23 15:38:45 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You have to have a licensed responsible driver in the vehicle with you at all times. No reason you can't drive one of the vehicles you mentioned as long as you're capable of doing so.
